Corvus

Fiduciary work, held to the standard of the office.

Corvus is a national fiduciary intelligence firm. We design family institutions, with the private trust company as the flagship, and we hold trusts, estates, and their administration to the standard American law sets for the office: loyalty, prudence, impartiality, and full disclosure, cited to the enacted law of the governing state.

The firm

Corvus is a fiduciary standards and advisory firm. Its discipline is the law of the fiduciary office itself: what the office must and may do, and what it answers for, under the instrument and the enacted law of the governing state.

What Corvus is

Families, family offices, trustees, and their counsel retain the firm to design family institutions, test administration against the duty catalog, resolve the questions administration produces, and hold named offices where instruments appoint it. The firm sits on the client's side of the table across the full life of a trust, from the architecture that creates it, through the administration that runs it, to the examination that defends or challenges it. Clients are in every state, and every matter is analyzed under the law that governs the instrument, never a default jurisdiction.

The standard is the product

What the firm delivers is conformity that survives scrutiny. Every engagement runs one method: the governing instrument first, the enacted statute of the governing state second, the Restatements and common law where the statute is silent. Conclusions open with the verdict and carry their citations. Work leaves the firm built for the hostile reader, whether that is a bank's legal department, a state examiner, opposing counsel, or the court. And where a proposed approach fails under governing law, the firm says so plainly and delivers the structure that holds, because the measure our clients answer to is the measure applied to everything that carries the firm's name.

A deliberately narrow door

The firm accepts a small number of matters inside stated criteria, under written agreements with scope and fees fixed before work begins, with confidentiality kept to family-office standard and surviving the engagement. The full catalog of engagements sits under Services, and the flagship, the family's own private trust company, has its own brief.

The operating standard

  1. Every engagement is analyzed under the governing instrument first, the enacted statute of the governing jurisdiction second, and the common law and Restatements where the statute is silent.
  2. Work product is drafted so the mandatory rules of the governing state are satisfied on the face of the document.
  3. Authority arises from appointment, never from this site or an inquiry. Where a governing instrument names Corvus to an office, the firm serves in the capacity the instrument and the enacting statute assign; everywhere else, the office is held by others and Corvus examines and documents.
  4. Nothing issues with an unverified citation.

The flagship engagement

  1. Private trust company design: the family's own fiduciary, built under the state family trust company acts.
  2. Feasibility, design, registration or charter support, and standing compliance service, each a fixed-fee phase.
  3. The full engagement, phase by phase: the private trust company.
